Diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems in pets.
What Are Manual Therapies?
Manual techniques, which involve the direct use of the therapists’ hands, are used for diagnosis and treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal problems. From a diagnostic standpoint, they are used to identify abnormalities such as muscle pain and tightness, limitations in passive range of motion and restrictions in the normal mobility of joints.
What Treatments Are Used?
When treating musculoskeletal problems, manual therapies use a variety of soft tissue techniques designed to address specific problems to enhance healing. For example, some techniques may be used to increase circulation to tissues, others may be used to reduce adhesions or eliminate trigger points. Still others are used primarily to reduce pain or reduce edema.
